Our Dunbar pupils have been baking up a storm over the course of two years to raise money for a WWF animal adoption scheme. Delicious cakes, biscuits, and treats were sold in Dunbar House, raising a grand total of £86.
An elephant, rhino, and orangutan have all been adopted and are now a part of the Dunbar family! Jonathan the elephant and Kiwi the rhino are both named, however, the orangutan’s name is yet to be determined during a Dunbar House vote.
Choosing an animal to adopt wasn’t as simple as it may seem! The pupils had to engage in research tasks, as well as presenting their ideas to the rest of the group, in order to persuade each other why their chosen animal was best.
Year 7 pupil, James, was particularly pleased that the group all decided upon an orangutan, as he worked hard to present a funny and persuasive presentation to encourage his peers to support his choice.
By adopting an animal with WWF, the pupils have also received toy animals, which represent the real, wild creatures. They will also receive regular information packs that will be shared during tutor time.
