Pangbourne Parents' Association

The Pangbourne Parents’ Association (PPA) is run by, and for, the parents of Pangbourne pupils.
Every parent at the school is automatically a member of the PPA. There is no charge and all are free to participate as much, or as little, as they would like.

The day-to-day running of the PPA is undertaken by a small committee of 12 parents who are elected each year at the AGM. The committee is brilliantly supported by a larger number of parents who volunteer their time to help at a specific event, or on a regular basis at events throughout the year.

The PPA are a very friendly team and their aim is to make all their events as enjoyable to organise as they are to attend. New volunteers are always welcome, and it is a great opportunity to get to know people, make new friends and have some fun in the process. If you are interested in getting involved, then please contact [email protected]

What does the PPA do?

The PPA organises a number of events for parents each year. These include the hugely popular Ball, Christmas Market, and Quiz Night. The PPA also supports a number of College events such as Open Mornings, the Classic Car Show, and new parent events.

The money raised from PPA events is reinvested into the College and also in the wider community. Details of some of the initiatives the PPA have supported, and continue to support, can be found below.

Who do the PPA support?

College Projects

One of the great highlights of the year is the Grants Event, at which different College departments can bid for a donation from the funds that have been raised over the past year. The bidding is open to all staff with the aim of helping them to fund projects and departmental initiatives. It is always such a pleasure to hear the various applicants pitch to the team with such enthusiasm and drive. This fun and rewarding event makes all the hard work throughout the year worthwhile.

In 2024, the PPA donated £10,359 back to the school. The money that was awarded bought paddle boards for the CCF, a euphonium and studio equipment for the Music department, and an honours board for the marching band drum majors. The fund also helped to launch the Reading Canon for the Library and English department, and bought two replacement spotlights for Drake Hall and the Drama department.

Young adults in the community

Bridge for Young People provides a home and support to young people (aged 16-25) who are leaving care, or who are homeless. They currently have three houses in West Berkshire; Cornerstone, Rebecca House, and Hope House.

Residents have typically experienced varying challenges during their childhood. Bridge for Young People provides them with a stable home, emotional support and practical help during this crucial time as they move into independence.
