A long standing staff member of our catering team, Cidalia (Suzie) Kural, has been awarded the Holroyd Howe Unsung Hero Award.

Holroyd Howe specialises in providing catering services to independent schools and has been Pangbourne’s caterer since August 2008. The company hosts an annual award ceremony which celebrates members of staff who go above and beyond to deliver exceptional hospitality provision to schools.

Our Head of Catering, Iain Hedley, nominated Suzie for the endless hard work and effort that she has continuously displayed throughout her 30 years at the College. The Unsung Hero award had a total of 176 nominees, making it the most nominated category ever. After careful consideration five finalists were selected. Attending the award show on Friday 19 November at The Banking Hall, City of London, Suzie was announced as the overall winner.

Iain explains, “With 30 years of service behind her, Suzie is a dedicated and cherished member within the Pangbourne community. She is an irreplaceable member of the team and it was a genuine, very well deserved win.”

Suzie’s application was supported by evidence from Iain Hedley, as well as our Assistant Head Pupil Mental Health, Mrs Caroline Bond who comments,

“Not only is Suzie a valued member of the catering team, she is also a member of the College’s Racial Diversity and Inclusion Working Party which demonstrates her compassion, admirable work ethic and contribution to the wider College community.”

Speaking about her win, Suzie said, “It felt really amazing. There were a lot of people at the award show so I was so surprised that I won. I felt very emotional when they announced me as the winner and I still feel emotional about it now. I have been here for 30 years so to receive this award, and to be recognised, I am very grateful. I have always enjoyed my job and still do. For me, the kids make my day. It is great being able to see their characters develop over the years of them being here.”

Congratulations, Suzie!
