The annual Whitmore Trophy Competition took place last month at Sandford Springs Golf Club. The prestigious Whitmore Trophy, which recognizes the best golfer in the College, was given to the school by John Whitmore, an Old Pangbournian with a passion for golf.

In all, eight student golfers took part in the competition, playing a scratch medal tournament for the main trophy, as well as a Stableford handicap competition alongside.  It was a challenging day for the less consistent golfers, with the back nine particularly featuring a number of (at times, wearying) uphill and downhill climbs.

The Stableford winner was Jack (Year 10). The winner for the longest drive was Rory (Year 8), while Rory (Upper Sixth) took the nearest-the-pin prize.

Mr Jeffers said, ‘A thoroughly enjoyable day and we hope more can join us next year to compete. The juniors are on their way!’
