About me

I grew up on the Isle of Wight where I studied Maths, Further Maths, Additional Further Maths and Physics at A-Level. At University I studied a degree in Mathematics while also getting involved in the Oxford University Officer Training Corps with the view of joining the Royal Tank Regiment upon graduation. After a few years, I decided to dedicate myself to becoming a Maths teacher and switched to study a BSc in Secondary Mathematics Education instead. I taught in Reading initially before returning back to the Island and teaching in a Free school for four years, before returning to Berkshire to teach at Pangbourne in 2021.

Outside of school, I am passionate about many adventurous activities including rifle shooting, archery and skiing and I try to go skiing for a few weeks each year. I'm also a big fan of Disney, Harry Potter and gaming.

Why do I love teaching?

Maths is such an interesting subject due to it's real world application and problem solving nature. It encourages a logical and thorough approach to the world and it is heart-warming to see students develop their approach to solving new and exciting problems to the satisfying point where they get the answer correct. It's a subject with many things we are yet to understand and this ever growing knowledge makes it an exciting subject to share with young people.

My other roles at Pangbourne are...

  • Duke of Edinburgh Award, Trained Supervisor and Assessor
  • CCF

If I hadn't been a teacher I would have been...

An Armoured Corps Officer in the Royal Tank Regiment.

My role model is…

I had an incredible Maths teacher for my secondary school years who fostered my love of the subject into what it is now and I owe her a great deal for that inspiration. Her enthusiasm for Maths is something I try to share with my students every day so that they too can share our passion for the subject.

I would describe Pangbourne as...

Pangbourne is a school dedicated to individual growth and it's clear that the College encourages young people to explore their own passions and as educators it is our responsibility to foster them as they forge their own paths going forwards.
