About me

My first teaching role was in Paris working in a private language school where I taught English to adults. I worked in companies such as L'Oreal, Lancome and Givenchy. This work inspired me some years later to complete my PGCE in Secondary French when I returned to the UK. I then taught French in both the secondary and primary sectors.

My experience of teaching dyslexic pupils in the classroom, as well as having dyslexic children of my own, motivated me to learn more about teaching pupils with specific learning difficulties and I completed the Level 5 and Level 7 specialist qualifications. For some years I was able to combine both French and Learning Support teaching, as I really enjoy both. However, since becoming SENCo my focus has been fully on Learning Support which really is such a fulfilling and rewarding role.

Why do I love teaching?

I love seeing the difference specialist teaching can make for pupils and how it helps them to grow in confidence and self-esteem. Showing pupils that they can achieve, despite barriers to their learning, is incredibly rewarding.

If I hadn't been a teacher I would have been...

An art gallery curator.

I would describe Pangbourne as...

An incredibly supportive and caring community where each pupil is treated as an individual.
