About me
I have been at the College now for twelve years. I live here with my Wife Frankie and our two Children Alfie and Ottilie. Before my time at Pangbourne I studied Product design with Marketing. I then worked in Sales and then management in industry, before undertaking a PGCE at Roehampton University. I started my teaching career at Claires Court School, where I taught for three years before moving to Pangbourne. I was formerly Head of Design Technology at the College.
I have a passion for classic cars and to that end I organise and run the annual Classic Car Show at the College as well as a classic car restoration activity with pupils. Having played rugby for Scotland U19, Wasps U21, Richmond first XV, Beaconsfield first XV - and most recently having just retired from playing for Keynsham first XV in Bristol, as well as Senior County Rugby for Buckinghamshire and Somerset - I have a great interest in rugby at the College and have coached boys and girls. I currently coach the 1st XV team and help with Rugby Sevens.
Why do I love teaching Design and Technology?
I love teaching Design Technology as it is such a creative subject and pupils get to realise their designs. It is fantastic to teach traditional skills in metal and woodwork and compliment these with modern technology. I am a firm believer in keeping heritage skills alive in our modern world.
My other roles at Pangbourne are:
- Head of Boarding
- Housemaster
- Teacher
- Rugby Coach
- Classic Car Show Organiser
- Classic Car club teacher
- CCF AI
If I hadn't been a teacher I would have been...
A professional rugby player or Engineer/Heritage car restoration
My role model is...
My Grandfather who was a Design Technology teacher was a great influence on me and ignited that desire to dismantle products and make products. The wider boarding school life has been something I have grown up with and my Father has inspired and supported me with this passion.
I would describe Pangbourne as...
Pangbourne is a community where every individual pupil or staff matters. It is a very special school. It is about developing the individual to be the best person they can be and in my time here, I can confidently say that I have seen this first hand with our pupils and staff.
