About me

Having spent a little over thirty years in the Royal Marines Band Service, the final 15 years in the capacity of Director of Music, I took up the position of Head of Training for the Royal Navy of Oman Band. I was tasked with initiating a new School of Music consisting of 24 instructional staff for the inaugural 150 female musicians joining the Band. Whilst there were many challenges along the way, this was a very rewarding time, during which I worked with some of the most hospitable and friendly staff that you could wish for. It is a fascinating country, with stunning scenery, and one which I try to return to on a regular basis. Returning to the UK in 2016, I joined a small international school in South Wales in the capacity of Head of Boarding prior to joining Pangbourne in my current role in 2017. During my military career I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to study for a Masters of Arts in Performing (Conducting), and I am currently studying towards further qualifications in pastoral care with the Boarding School Association. Myself and my wife enjoy our spare time in Devon, where we are slowly completing the seemingly endless stages of the South Coast Path.

My other roles at Pangbourne are...

  • Bandmaster of the Marching Band
  • Dunbar Visiting Tutor

If I hadn't been a teacher I would have been...

A Police Officer

My role model is…

My father

I would describe Pangbourne as...

Pangbourne College is an educational establishment that provides a solid academic education combined with equipping students with good manners, strong life skills, competitive team spirit and a true sense of belonging
