Meet Old Pangbournian Rebecca Crossley. Rebecca attended Pangbourne College from 2010 right through to 2017, from Dunbar through to Sixth Form. She now works as a Ph.D. student at the University of Oxford, as well as a tutor.

What are some of your fondest Pangbourne memories?

My fondest memories of Pangbourne College are definitely the friends and relationships that I've taken away from here. My closest friends in life, my fiancé, are all people that I met at Pangbourne, and we have a great bond from the time that we spent there together.

Beyond that, I think some of my other fondest memories are specific experiences we had whilst there. May it be days away with CCF, trips on Duke of Edinburgh, or monumental occasions like meeting The Queen, or going to St Pauls to sing in front of people like Princess Anne.

What did you go on to do after Pangbourne?

Since leaving I've had a number of jobs, but I first and foremost went on to study a Masters of Science in Mathematics at the University of Bristol before moving on to do my Ph.D..

How did your time at the College prepare you for life beyond school?

My time at Pangbourne prepared me for life beyond school mainly by teaching me a whole load of interpersonal skills and soft skills that are invaluable to any workplace or any daily environment that you're in. The kindness, communication, working together with other people - these are all things that are really diligently thrown into your everyday life at Pangbourne and maybe are overlooked in other places. They really do carry you through everything that you do after you leave Pangbourne.

How would you describe Pangbourne College?

I would describe Pangbourne as an environment bursting to the seams with opportunities. I think it's a really wonderful place with a truly different outlook on life. You get to try a whole bunch of different things and it's a really supportive environment for anybody with whatever their interest may be.

What would you say to someone who is considering Pangbourne for their child?

For someone that's considering Pangbourne for their child I would certainly say that it's an environment that will be supportive of anything that your child wants to do. You know that if you left them there they would be under the care and supervision of people that are really, truly interested. They have your child's best interests at heart and your child will be amongst a family in this really welcoming home environment where the job will still be done, they'll still be taught, they'll have their education, but they'll get so many more opportunities beyond that in an environment that they feel safe and loved.

Three words to describe Pangbourne College?

The three words I would use to describe Pangbourne College are 'truly unique experience'.
