About me

I came to teaching later in life, having worked in the IT industry for a number of years. It was a case of 'more of the same' or 'something different' and I chose the latter. My original degree is in Theology, but I elected to use my IT experience to teach ICT and gained my PGCE in that subject. Outside of teaching, I enjoy gardening, running and cycling. I am also extremely passionate about wildlife and do what I can to support it.

Why do I love teaching Computer Science?

Computer Science is fundamental to modern living and permeates our entire lives. It is often seen as a technical subject and, whilst true, is also a creative one. Programming allows anyone to develop a solution that meets their own or someone else's need. It is a moment of joy when a student comes to realise that and also when they discover that troubleshooting a coding problem has its own special reward.

My other roles at Pangbourne are:

Head of ICT and Systems: determining the College's future ICT needs and developing the IT infrastructure.

If I hadn't been a teacher I would have been...

A lawyer or a priest!

My role model is....

A Maths and Computer Science teacher, Mr James.

I would describe Pangbourne as...

A close, warm and caring community in which all are focused on helping young people succeed academically, physically and spiritually and in which character is as important as success.
