About me

After leaving Arts University Bournemouth with a degree in Modelmaking, I set about securing a career where I could combine my passions for making and people. I fell quickly into an educational setting, deciding to take on teacher training in a state school in Oxfordshire. I love teaching Design Technology, especially at Pangbourne where the facilities are superb. Outside of work I enjoy playing with materials, gardening and pilates.

Why do I love teaching DT?

Watching pupils of all backgrounds and abilities being able to make something they are proud of. I love encouraging pupils to have pride in their work and take creative risks.

My other roles at Pangbourne are:

  • Housemistress of Illawarra
  • Netball Coach
  • Tutor

If I hadn't been a teacher I would have been...

An Art Therapist.

My role model is...

My college lecturers were unconventional and moving - they sparked my interest in the world around me, sculpture and making. I was inspired to move into education by a high-quality Art teacher who saw potential in my ability to teach. I am humbled by the importance of seeing the best in people and encouraging them to continue to learn and challenge themselves.

I would describe Pangbourne as...

Pangbourne College is a welcoming community where the individual matters. The quality of pastoral care is outstanding and pupils are supported by passionate and highly experienced teachers. Pangbourne College believes in nurturing all components of young people, not just academically but socially, morally and spiritually. Pangbourne College is special because of its innate ability to help sustain positive relationships.
